The Man of the Moment

Whether you love and adore him, or loathe with informed judgement, it's been hard not to hit the play button on the YouTube vids of PSY. He's the man of the moment, being flooded with Fame. But who was 'that guy' 5 months ago, or 5 years ago? When I was in high school it was the Spice Girls.

What about 100 years ago? It was Gandhi

2000 years ago?

They didn't have videos that could go viral, but the news of Jesus was spreading just as fast. Jesus was doing crazy amazing wonderful things. Healing people from all sorts of illnesses and ailments. Casting out demons. It got so bad that for some alone time Jesus had to head out from the towns to the desert and still people sought him out. I don't think we really get it. WHOLE TOWNS, that is every single person in the place, came out of their homes to get a glimpse, to hear Jesus speak, to see him heal.

Jesus was the man of the moment, being flooded with fame. And whether you love and adore him, or loathe with informed judgement, this is the scene of Mark 2.

In this story Jesus heals a man who can't walk. You would think that this guys greatest need is to get his legs moving. But when he heals him, Jesus doesn't just make his legs work. Jesus does something for him that is even great. Jesus heals him not only physically, but spiritually. Jesus tells the man 'Your sins are forgiven'. Now, this is MASSIVE. Only God and God alone can forgive sins. But Jesus proves he has the authority to forgive sins by showing he can heal the man physically too.

Jesus is truly amazing. He heals us in our greatest need. He heals what needs to be fixed most. He deals with our problem of sin by taking a punishment that we deserve. He forgives us.

Imprint the Word

Romans 10:9-13 (Friday Nights)

9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
